No Gift Baskets, Nowhere…. Not The Right One!

We want to share this anecdote with you of how La Tiendita Mexicana came about…

One afternoon we went looking for a present for a friend that we were visiting in San Diego.  She is a very special friend.  We were a bit puzzled thinking what to give her as a present.  She seemed to have everything.

“What can we get for her that she’ll like?” –we kept asking each other.  A blouse or maybe a pair of jeans… or maybe a book, no, no, no….   It was so difficult to find something.  She is a very good friend of us and yet we don’t know what to get her. “Dios mio”, what present can we get for her?

After a moment of silence, it seemed like if God himself had listened to us.  We got it!  The perfect gift is a gift basket!  Yes!  A gift basket contains many goodies that for sure she’ll like.  So off we went to buy it….

Half a day later, and after visiting three or four stores we simply couldn’t find a gift basket.  When we finally went into a store that had gift baskets, we were so disillusioned.  The gift baskets were not as good as we wished.  They were nice from the outside but a bit disappointing inside.  We were hoping for one that would tell a “story” to our friend.  One with products that can shout:  “you are very special” .

If only there was a basket that had “the right” combination of products? –says, Ramiro.  One that is as good inside as it looks on the outside. With a tone of reluctance, Jaime says: well…. If there isn’t one, then let’s put it together and make one ourselves.  And we did just that.

We personally selected the items for the basket and we wrapped it up ourselves…. Of course, given we are Traditional and Authentic Mexican chefs, we only selected traditional and authentic items from Mexico.  And let me tell you, it was a nice one!  A beautiful basket!

To make a long story short, our friend was really impressed and felt so special with our basket.  She knew instantly that the basket had more than just good intentions.

So impressed she was that a couple of weeks later she was calling us asking us to please help her put together some baskets.  She had to “look good” and impress some clients.  Please, please, please…. Jaime, Ramiro, help me.   Gracefully, we did.

Now we get orders of Gift Baskets from all over.  The reactions are amazing, they all agree “the gift was just perfect”.   “It reminds me of my childhood”  “it takes me back to my hometown”  “the clients were so delighted” “this should be called a Pandora Basket” These are some of the comments we received.   It is almost impossible that the person receiving the basket won’t like it.  It’s a full experience wrapped up in a basket.  Order yours today!  An you will be remembered by your loved ones.
